What is Appointed?
Appointed is a non-partisan initiative that prepares and empowers community members to serve on civic boards and commissions. We offer training, resources, and connections to help individuals navigate the appointment process and assist elected officials in identifying qualified candidates.
Representation matters.
The most effective boards reflect the broad range of experiences and perspectives found within the communities they serve. This leads to stronger governance practices, better decision-making, and more meaningful outcomes.
Making a difference.
Boards that bring together people with varied lived experiences tend to perform better. Research shows that leadership teams with a wider mix of perspectives are linked to stronger results—even in the corporate sector, where greater variety in viewpoints correlates with improved financial performance.

Please Note.
The goal of Appointed is to increase the pool of candidates for civic boards. The Women’s Fund does not make appointments. Participating in Appointed does not guarantee that you will be recommended for a specific board position, or that you will be appointed to a board. A separate candidate application will be required before being considered for any board position, according to the parameters set by the appointing government body.
